TRUNK gallery and Urban Mixer to host “Urban Mixer Gallery Series II” for Ottawa-based artist, Heidi Conrod, on Thursday, November 8th, 2007
VANCOUVER, Oct. 10, 2007 – Urban Mixer and TRUNK gallery present Heidi Conrod, the Ottawa-based artist who has been raising eyebrows with her collection of natural and unpredictable art.
On Thursday, November 8th, 2007, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., TRUNK gallery, located at 1755 West Third Avenue, will host an opening reception with the artist in attendance, featuring Conrod’s newest suite of paintings titled Landscapes. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at www.urbanmixer.com. Partial proceeds both from the sale of tickets and the sale of art on the evening of the event will go to UNICEF’s Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign.
Social media Guru and President of the Urban Mixer, Raj Taneja, dubs his membership-based social organization as the cure for the common social life. Reaching over 10,000 Vancouverites via a targeted weekly e-newsletter, Urban Mixer combines the city’s most comprehensive events calendar with coverage on the hottest happenings in town and even hosts their own brand of social soirée. Busy urban professionals can get the scoop on all the In places to go Out.
TRUNK gallery, established in 2007 and contained by the auto/ONE showroom, will hold this must-attend event. The Gallery features original, two-dimensional artworks in a variety of media including painting, photography, mixed media and works on paper. TRUNK gallery is Vancouver’s one-stop shop for fine art and Ferraris.
Featured artist, Heidi Conrod, is the creator of paintings based on remembered landscapes. Viewers are engaged in a state between reality and fantasy as the texture of oil, wax and glaze create depth and unexpected layers. In this sense, the landscapes are more internal than external in their use of mediation on memory and distance.
UNICEF of British Columbia and Urban Mixer have teamed up to raise funds and awareness for the Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign. The UNICEF campaign is a global initiative that responds to the lack of attention given to the needs of children and adolescents within the context of the AIDS pandemic. In Canada, the goal is to raise funds for UNICEF’s work while fostering corporate social responsibility, encouraging increased pediatric AIDS research and development, and advocating for an elevated commitment to affected children by the Canadian government.
